Reviews:
Yo! Listen up. There may be more intellectual comics working today, but few are funnier than Rocky LaPorte. His observations about daily life make shopping in a supermarket hilarious. And theres a plus: Nobody in show business is nicer.
Chicago Sun Times
One comic insider called him a sitcom just waiting to happen, and cohorts in the competitive stand-up world have actually said nice things about him. Comedian Rocky LaPorte has a lot going for him -- handsome dark looks and howlingly funny tales of growing up in Brooklyn. He weaves well-paced tales with rewarding punch limes. His ability to free-form it at times is another big plus. The talent (and character) is there for potential picking by the star-makers of Tinsel Town.
Las Vegas Review-Journal
Go ahead, Rocky, raise your hands over your head and take a victory lap around the ring. Youve earned it. This Brooklyn-born comic showed in his 45-minute set that he has moved to the next level. His observations are becoming sharper, more universal. You could almost call him sly. With his delivery steeped in heavy, slow Brooklyn-ese, LaPorte comes across as a lovable lunk with a casual, relaxed delivery and a penchant for callbacks. LaPortes performance was years head of his old game, with more polish, better material and well placed chestnuts, including his classic run-in with a sea gull with an attitude. The thing flipped me the wing.
