School is Out, STEM is IN!

STEMaction offers SuGO Robotics Workshops on select days when schools are not in session. Our next Workshop is Wednesday, April 12, 2017. This registration page is for the afternoon session from 1pm - 4pm.

What is SuGO? It combines the fun of LEGO Mindstorm NXT robots with Sumo wrestling. In this workshop youth work in teams to build SuGO Battle Bots using supplied LEGO Mindstorms NXT kits with special SuGO add-ons. After the bots are built it will be time to hit the competition ring for a thrilling and fun tournament. For more details on SuGO see www.sugobot.com

No programming is necessary but LEGO Mindstorms NXT building experience is a plus. For those new to Mindstorms we can provide step by step building instructions.

Ages: 9 to 14 years old
Schedule:
1:00pm Check in
1:15 - 2:15: Building Bots
2:15 - 2:30: Snack break - Please bring a drink and a snack
2:30 - 3:00: Finish building bots
3:00 - 3:45: Tournament - Parents are welcome to attend and cheer the teams on!
3:45 - 4:00: Clean up and goodbye

STEMaction delivers exciting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities to K-12 students and builds a local community of support for the programs and participants. STEMaction is the official Affiliate Partner for the Maryland FIRST Tech Challenge and Maryland Junior FIRST LEGO League program (www.mdfirst.org). The workshop will be mentored by FTC team 8221, Cubix3. The participants will get to see and hear about our team and robot!

Note: Adults running STEMaction workshops are screened through the FIRST Youth Protection Program.
