ROOTS TO ROCK CONCERT! (Bluegrass plus Rock 'n' Roll)
Gather 'round for Old-time Bluegrass by BLITHEDALE CANYON followed by rock'n'roll classics by the venerable ROCK THE AGES Senior Chorus!
ROCK THE AGES, a dynamic chorus of seniors belts out a sizzling session of rock'n'roll that will keep you smiling and clapping.
Ranging in age from 80 to 100, these oldsters have been rocking out at Bay Area venues since 2009. Under the direction of musician Barry Blum, ROCK THE AGES has performed sold-out gigs at Marin's famous Sweetwater Music Hall and always draws a huge crowd at Bay Area appearances. Their music selections span five decades of rock'n'roll and include songs from the Rolling Stones, James Brown, the Ramones, Eurythmics, Pussy Cat Dolls, Coldplay and others.
Kicking off this "ROOTS TO ROCK" event will be Blithedale Canyon, a band of bluegrass pickers, strummers and singers that includes Larry Carlin, Claudia Hampe, Gary Kaye and Gary Bauman. These well-known Marin musicians will highlight the "roots" music of their vast repertoire and get the show rolling.
