Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Sarah Arnold, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Mary Kane, Emily Lindholm, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, theyve heard the term "local music.
May guest: Maxwell Schlatter, who is a New Brighton native, gave his first performance at a choral concert, playing lead for Queens Bohemian Rhapsody fills. Current influences include The Clash, Leonard Cohen, and Sxip Shirey (Childrens Theatre). An aspiring inhabitant of an isolated cabin in the woods, Max began bringing his folksy punk style to the coffee shop scene after somehow finding himself confined to the Midway area. Having recently learned to care for his guitars well being, his high hope is to limit most concern to the price of strings.
