Water Cooler Party - Dr. Caterwauls Returns to Twin Peaks
Eclectic world music/folk band Dr. Caterwauls Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps will play music composed by Angelo Badalamenti for the David Lynch TV show "Twin Peaks" at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Thursday, May 25 at 8 PM. Tickets are $8 in advance.
All tickets are general admission. There is no reserved seating so arrive early to claim your spot!
Dr. Caterwauls Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps -- composed of Michael Tepper on upright bass, Adam Matlock on accordion and vocals; Michael Paolucci on percussion; Chris Cretella on electric guitar and Brian Slattery on violin, banjo, trombone and vocals -- plays as much music as it's able to: blues and murder ballads, Eastern European folk, traditional music from North and South America, tango, swing, classical music, and the songs of contemporary songwriters (including Matlock), using the influences of the music they love to create fluid, improvised arrangements.
For this show, the group will be playing music composed by Angelo Badalamenti for the acclaimed cult show. Badalamenti scored a Grammy Award in 1991 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for the show's haunting theme. His music deftly reinforced the underlying tone of dread and disorientation that permeated the show.
The show, which ran from 1990-91 has been revived and its premiere episode will air on Showtime on Sunday, May 21.
In previous shows at Best Video Film & Cultural Center, Dr. Caterwaul's has played film scores of Bernard Herrmann and music by Kurt Weill. A planned show built around music from the "Simpsons" TV show, postponed due to snow this past January, is expected to be rescheduled for this summer.
