Parlor of Mystery presents Magic & Comedy
The artistry of magic and the funny side of magic will be in full view on April 23 when magicians Peter Samelson, Rich Marotta and Joe Silkie perform at The Parlor of Mystery on April 23.
Peter Samelson is a renowned magician who has won awards all around the world for his artistry. Recognized by fellow magicians as a magicians magician, he has been honored by the magic society and graced the cover of numerous magic publications. Christened the "soft-spoken conceptualist of sorcery" by the New York Times, Samelson has performed atop the Great Wall of China, in the jungles of Bali and the universities of Tokyo, He has performed for Mexican peasants, and Grand Prix race car drivers on the World Cruise of the Queen Elizabeth II. He has entertained Princess Stephanie of Monaco, the jet-set of Paris and the fishermen mending their nets on the beaches of Cartegena. From Kenya to the Magic Castle, from television to trade shows, college campuses to commercials, the New York stage, night clubs and celebrity events, Peter Samelson has distinguished himself not only as a magician, but as an artist.
Rich Marotta, the Comedian Who Does Magic, returns to the Parlor of Mystery by popular demand making this show a not-to-be-missed event. Marotta is a nationally known headlining comedian who just so happens to do mind-blowing magic that keeps audiences scratching their heads while they laugh themselves silly. Rich has appeared on numerous television shows, lectured in all 50 states and over 20 countries. You can find his comedy and magic effects for sale in every magic shop in the country, well the good ones, that is.
The evening will be hosted by Joe Silkie. Silkie has been a driving force in magic for many years and is know by many to be both an elegant performer of the classics, and the inventive creator behind powerful effects used by many successful magicians. Joes artistic skills, however tend to reflect best in his obscure and uncanny presentations that leave the audience both spooked and amazed. Joe is a co-founder of the Parlor of Mystery.
The Parlor of Mystery is a monthly parlor magic show where magic is performed that does not require expensive, large-scale stage equipment. It is magic performed close to the audience and without a stage. The setting and the magic are intimate. And all shows are modern, funny, grown-up and for grown-up audiences. The Parlor of Mysterys home is the South Shore Theatre Experience in Lindenhurst. Its the perfect place to experience parlor and close-up magic. It is small black box theatre with comfortable tiered seating for 45. The Parlor of Mystery is one of many productions that take place at the South Shore Theatre Experience, which is located at 315 West Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst. The South Shore Theatre Experience is a non- profit organization that produces original works and theatre classics as well as conducting acting classes & workshops. Parlor of Mystery shows take place at 7pm on the fourth Sunday of every month with different magicians performing different effects.
