Made You Look is a combination of short original pieces that deal with how our community is dealing with issues around social justice. The piece will capture the powerful dignity we inhabit in the space of public protest, silent protest and civil disobedience. Utilizing classically trained ballet dancers, the company will perform contemporary choreography to music that reflects urban culture. This work is being created to respond to the current climate in our country and more specifically in our city. As a people we are forced to recon with discipline, organization and defiant refusal. Blending dance, spoken word, art, and fashion this work aims to highlight urban community through multiple lenses. Made You Look sets out to promote awareness of our diverse community, and action toward perseverance toward a brighter tomorrow.
