TAPROOT exists to penetrate deep into the heart of what gives our community life. In digging deeply, we bring to the surface challenging ideas to be digested.

We create performance art that takes risks and has an honest, clear, fresh vision. We focus on projects that delve into socially relevant ideas and produce unique experiences. We draw on a wide range of disciplines to explore the ancient, contemporary and unfolding.

BOOM Performance: O, Sea!
This solo performance by TAPROOT founder Brianna Susan Smith will take you on a journey through struggle and healing with ancient narratives, modern technology, music, dance, storytelling, food, and spoken word. O, Sea! is an immersive exploration of violence against women and the feminine in all of us. A ritual for healing and a call to arms against the forces that work to tear apart and destroy those of us who break out of the limited expectations placed on us from birth. Smith says, This show is for those who want to better understand what it is to be feminine or female-identifying and for everyone who knows what it is to be forced into violent constraints that try to dictate your life experience.
