The Three Bears
The final weekend of April we have a very unique production by a very special group of people, The Three Bears. This production is by our Music Makers led by Dr. Rosemary Fisher. Experiencing the performing arts should be a right rather than a privilege for all human beings regardless of disabilities. The Music Makers are a group of adults with developmental disabilities who have been working together in a Music Therapy Class for several years.
The Three Bears is written by Paul Nordoff, a 20th Century composer and music therapist. This musical play is more sophisticated version of the familiar story and includes singing, acting and playing musical instruments. Each character is represented by a specific musical instrument (as Peter and the Wolf) thus, forming an ensemble we call "The Music Maker Orchestra." These instruments include cellos, violins, recorders, piano, and--the principal oboist in the Houston Symphony Orchestra as our special guest. The Music Makers are working hard on this challenging production and hope to see you at one of their performances.
