Ballet Ariel (Rikki-Tikki-Tavi)
Ballet Ariel'sRikki-Tikki-Tavi isa new and original ballet based on the short story in Rudyard Kiplings beloved classic Jungle Book. In a tropical, jungle setting and full of animals, this child-friendly ballet is a story of great courage and loyalty as the little mongoose Rikki stands in the face of danger from two slithering cobras Nag and Nagaina to protect his adopted family.
Founded in 1998 by Artistic and Executive Director Ilena Norton, this is Ballet Ariels 18th season. Ballet Ariels is building excitement about ballet, presenting original ballets that combine classical tradition and images of contemporary culture, while providing dance education and fostering appreciation of the art of ballet. The company employs 12 professional dancers under rehearsal directors Oleg Dedogryuk and Patricia Renzetti, and its repertoire includes classical works and original ballets, including Vincent Van Gogh, Avoca-A Tale of Molly Brown, and The Birth of Rock and Roll.
