ANiMA: A Future Without Borders
ANiMA: A Future Without Borders Jyun Jyun and missTANGQ perform innovative global electronic music with live projected animation, shadow dancing and puppetry with spectacular masks and costumes. An expedition of multi-sensory time travel, the show transforms ancestral traditions into ritual futurisms through the co-creation of new narratives that expand cultural identity and global community. ANiMA adapts ancient myth into contemporary performance art and new media that draws attention to our shared global challenges and hopes for humanity through a reverence for nature. Using cutting-edge technology, interactive visuals respond directly to the performers bodies, creating a union of digital and organic movement. The stage itself is an altar, where audience members are invited to offer handmade crafts to pay homage to their stories and participate in a culminating dance party. Jyun Jyun and missTANGQ will be joined by friends of Global Barrio, an arts collective and music label based in Oakland, CA - including international electronic music duo, Santi and Tugce, (Paraguay and Turkey), and DLMJ (Mexico).
