THE JOHNNY CYCLE: Part III - The Living
Set against the backdrop of the Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena, THE JOHNNY CYCLE: Part III - The Living gives voice to Johnny, a WWI soldier, trapped in his own mind, unable to communicate with the outside world.
In the stunning conclusion to The Speakeasy Society's critically-acclaimed JOHNNY CYCLE, audiences move through the mind of an injured soldier struggling to communicate in a world where his dreams and memories bleed into those of others. Johnny may speak for the dead, but who will listen?
Inspired by Dalton Trumbos Johnny Got His Gun and drawing on several historical and artistic wartime sources, THE JOHNNY CYCLE guides audiences through a personalized, individual, and epic experience examining the costs of war.
Note that while this performance concludes a three year investigation of the text, it exists as a standalone piece, and newcomers are encouraged!
**Please note--the performance requires audience mobility. The audience will be asked to walk, kneel, and/or stand throughout. It is intended for audiences of 14 years of age and older.
The performance lasts two hours and will be performed without intermission. Restrooms will only be available before and after the performance.
