Freshman Class
New York's great storytellers have a lot in common with the city's anthology of superheroesone-in-a-million rare, celebrated in perpetuum, and usually the product of character-defining experiences that they endured and ultimately came out on top of. The same guy could become Batman or Norman Mailer. You might as well be somebody.
Deriving their name from hip hop mag XXL's annual new talent issue, the Freshman Class crew returns to Bowery Poetry Club, this time mainly to talk shit because its summer and girls on Instagram are drinking rose in Montauk while we out here riding on the outside of subway cars with the rest of the garbage. The crew will teach you how to elevate your complaint game in a series of poems, essays, monologues, and freestyle bars.
Featuring David Acosta, Nico Monheim-Carrasquillo, Toniann Fernandez, Kaya Fridman, David Potters, L.H. Gonzalez, Analisa Velez, and Kai Williams
