BIMA Summer Camp: Artist Boot Camp with Dana Squires
Explore, experiment and create during BIMAs Summer Camps! Students entering grades 5-8 are invited to participate in week-long camps led by experienced teaching artists and supported by teaching assistants in a bright and welcoming museum environment. Each week will expose participants to new materials, ideas, and ways of making, using the classroom, museum exhibits and our surrounding island community as inspiration. All supplies provided, and maximum enrollment for each week is 15 students.
Think like an artist, look at the world through the eyes of an artist, and develop your own artistic voice! Students will explore and observe their surroundings in nature and in exhibits at the art museum through drawing, collage and much more! Use play and art-making to develop creativity, curiosity, and to solve problems in creative ways.
Dana Squires is an artist and an educator who approaches teaching as creative endeavor in itself and an integral part of her artistic process. She graduated from the Evergreen State College and has shown her work locally, nationally and internationally. Dana has volunteering with the Peace Corps in both West Africa and in the Solomon Islands and has been included on the ArtsWA Teaching Artist Roster for 10 years.
