BIMA Summer Camp: Re-Construction with Rachel Knudson (CANCELLED)
Explore, experiment and create during BIMAs Summer Camps! Students entering grades 5-8 are invited to participate in week-long camps led by experienced teaching artists and supported by teaching assistants in a bright and welcoming museum environment. Each week will expose participants to new materials, ideas, and ways of making, using the classroom, museum exhibits and our surrounding island community as inspiration. All supplies provided, and maximum enrollment for each week is 15 students.
Dig deep into recycling and building in this exploration of sculpture and repurposing materials. Students will be encouraged to design and construct creatively in three dimensions within a variety of media and using a range of mechanical connections, adhesives, and finishing techniques with guidance and technical support.
Rachel Knudson has been facilitating workshops and camps with scrap materials for 15 years for preschool and school aged children, and teens and adults. She founded the scrap arts studio, Sticky Art Lab, in Berkeley, CA. Rachel likes to help artists find a spark and dive in with wild abandon.
