Butch McCarthy has been performing in venues throughout New England since 1975 in various bands, including The McCarthy-Richards Band, The Shakers, Warm Missiles and many more. He started writing songs in 1976 and performed and recorded several singles and one album in 1979. The Butch McCarthy Band finished second (to The Schemers) in the 1980 WBRU Rock Hunt. After years in semi-retirement, Butch started writing and performing again with Dori Legge in 2008 and three albums ensued between 2009 and 2011. His latest release is a solo effort of eclectic tunes entitled Prevail on Plimro Records. Backed up by The Gentlemen of Leisure (Chris Richards on guitar, Steve Mazza on fretless bass and JB Borges on drums), Butch currently performs at venues and clubs throughout Southern New England.
