Rubbing Elbows: Creating Inclusive Creating Spaces
Too often the creative spaces we inhabit are exclusive, and the stories we hear are presented in a singular way. This conversation explores how we think about creative space and communities when we curate art and performance opportunities. Through reflection, dialogue, and group activities, this workshop challenges how we put on shows that are engaging, efficient, and inclusive among craft, genre, and identity; it considers who we involve, invite, and share opportunities with. Different communities are always rubbing elbows  lets see what we can make from that friction.

This workshop is the third in a series of five Artist Education workshops -- a new collaboration between Patrick's Cabaret and Soo Visual Arts Center (SooVAC), intended to create collaborative space for artists to share their skills with fellow artists and organizers, to strengthen relationships and build resilience.

This workshop is led by See More Perspective. He's been described as a Chicago Institution, Walking creativity and The hardest working, most unjustly slept on artist in the Twin Cities....This award winning hip hopper is a Twin Cities Native, Chicago transplant, MC, Poet, Producer, Engineer, Educator, Visual Artist, Actor, Thinker, Lover and one hell of a cook. He also received a 2013 VERVE Grant from Intermedia Arts, was a semi-finalist of the Saint Paul Challenge for the Million dollar idea to make Saint Paul Great, and has received a 2016 Cedar Commission (formerly the 416 commission). SEE MORE is one of the Twin Cities most active teaching artists, working on the TruArtSpeaks and COMPAS Arts MN artist rosters teaching rap, spoken word, hip hop music production, and social justice. He also serves on the board of the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, where he is excited to continue to find new ways to connect with and contribute to Minnesotas art and music scenes.
