Dawn Kasper, Kathleen Kim, Kelly Coats
Dawn Kasper is a New York based interdisciplinary artist working in performance, installation, sculpture, drawing, photography, video and sound. Her work emerges out of a fascination with existentialism, subjects of vulnerability, desire, and the construction of meaning. Kasper often critiques the corporatized aspects of culture by examining the emotions most commonly manipulated by advertisers and media such as fear, panic, hate, envy, lust and anxiety. Creating scenes that double as a platform for living sculpture, Kasper performs in a structured yet spontaneous manner using props, costume, comedy, gesture, extreme physicality, repetition, and monologue.
Kathleen Kim is an experimental musician and composer with a background in improvisation, avant jazz and classical theories. Her solo work uses extended violin and voice to create ethereal layers that invoke abstractions of mood and human experience. Kathleens current collaborative projects include avant jazz chamber ensemble LA Fog and experimental duo SheKhan.
Kelly Coats is a musician, artist, and designer based in Los Angeles, CA. Coats creates an emotive and reflective sonic space through melodic, drone-y flute playing, interspersed with vocal, synth, minimal drum beats and found sounds. She is an active member of the duo SheKhan, the avant jazz quartet LA Fog, and former member of the groups Embarrassing Powers, Lady Noise and Mi Grupo Favorito.
