Calvin Johnson, Arrington De Dionyso & MORE!
This show is all over the damn place: New/old heads, acoustic/electronic sounds, downer/dance vibes, west/east coast representation. Join us this fine evening as we welcome DIY pioneer Calvin Johnson to town for the night with his latest project, Selector Dub Narcotic, a fun, playful pop indie synth something or other! He's out here with fellow pop underground veteran Arrington De Dionyso and his project This Saxophone Kills Fascists, which is definitely at least one larger-than-average saxophone being wailed upon by someone with funk and experimental tendencies, so we shall see what happens. On tap to rep the weirdos in this region is walking performance art piece JOSS who might surprise you and weird you out but will definitely drop gripping, unique beats in a most heavy way as they just stand there having a staring contest with the audience. Alec K Redfearn & The Eyesores haven't been up in a while and not because PVD is so far away, we think it's just cause they got so many dang members! Not to mention the instruments! Strings, brass, accordion and extra percussion are a few instruments that make the ensemble stand out, but it's all about what they do with it that counts right? They land somewhere between deep chamber-pop and some THC infused klezmer digestibles. All over the damn place. -Sam P
