Strange Bedfellows & The Bed
Everyone that sleeps is beautiful - Walt Whitman, The Sleepers Sleeping Insomniacs Local 7337 presents STRANGE BEDFELLOWS an evening of short film + theater 8 international short films and the world premiere of the short play, THE BED an introspective look at a mans existence from birth to death and the significance his bed plays throughout his life.
April 21-22, 28-29, May 5-6, 12-13. There will be two shows each evening 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, Grammy-winner George Winston and Wisconsin Public Radio personality Norman Gilliland lend their talents to Milwaukee playwright Jeff Ircinks poignant play, THE BED, a personal story and a story for all of mankind.
This show as well as the play, THE BED, has universal appeal, stated Ircink. Everyone sleeps and everyone asks themselves two questions at some point during their lives What have I accomplished in my life thus far? and What would I like to accomplish before I leave this earth? Ircinks inspiration for the play was two-fold: his fathers love for sleeping and the 12 years he spent living in North Hollywood, Bel Air and Culver city with sleeping accommodations not up to my standards. The short films from the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Spain and Canada cover a variety of genres drama, comedy, horror, psychological, historical and animation. Patrons who attend any show during the run of STRANGE BEDFELLOWS qualify to win one of five grand prizes: wine tasting for 4 at Vintage 38 Wine Bar & Craft Beer Lounge in Greendale, a gift certificate to St. Moritz Salon in Shorewood, a one-night stay at County Clare Irish Inn on the East Side, a one-year, family membership to Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee and a queen-sized mattress, box spring, headboard and footboard courtesy of Steinhafels Furniture.
