THE SEA THE SEA is an Upstate New York based indie folk-pop duo-band featuring what Huffington Post calls, Two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year. Their 2014 debut release, Love We Are We Love, received praise from NPR, American Songwriter, and No Depression, among others, gathering over 10 million streams on Spotify. The animated video for their song "Waiting" sparked viral interest including Buzzfeed, Pitchfork, and inclusion at the international TED 2015 conference. Mountain Stage host Larry Groce calls them "ready to take their place among the best young male/female duos now performing." Their 2016 release, the six-song EP In the Altogether, recently earned features by Apple Music including Best of the Week and A-List Singer/Songwriter. They're currently in the studio working on their sophomore album.

_______________

Hannah Busse is a folk-pop singer-songwriter, recording artist, worship director, wife, and mom. Ranging from driving to quirky to reflective, Hannahs songs hold common threads of honest lyrics and captivating melodies driven from her piano. She writes about the inner life, culture, relationships, and parenting. A host of influences have shaped Hannahs music-making: a Midwestern upbringing with lots of singing around the piano.

A progressive education at a Big Ten university. Years of leading community worship gatherings with combo bands and choirs. Classical training as a vocalist, pianist, oboist, and choir director. A love for old musicals. A spouse who introduced her to Weezer, Green Day, and Pearl Jam.

Hannah has opened for the likes of Gungor, Sara Groves, Brady Toops, and Nate Currin, and has performed alongside numerous other artists such as Beth Kille, Jeff Parks, Karen Wheelock, and Travis Agnew. She also co-founded the Madisonbased folk/Americana band Et Cetera.

Underneath Our Surface, Hannahs debut solo EP, is a collection of songs about the hidden desires, wounds, and memories underneath the surface of our ordinary lives. Hannah and her husband Will live in Madison, Wisconsin with their three exuberant little daughters.
