Southampton Arts Center, The Jam Session and event sponsor Bonhams Auction House are thrilled to present a very special night of ART and JAZZ with an extraordinary addition to the LIVE from SAC concert series. A reception for all attendees will be held prior to the concert to allow viewing of Bonhams collection pieces and to meet their representatives. At the Reception and throughout the evening Bonhams will preview several of its coming Art Auctions with pieces from its collections on display, adding to this memorable night of Art and Music. The concert features Latin jazz pianist Hector Martignon and world-renowned jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker, along with a line-up of incredible musicians to round out the band for this One-Night-Only collaboration. New York based, Colombian born Hector Martignon has composed, orchestrated, produced, performed and recorded music in a wide spectrum of genres, from Classical and Crossover, to Jazz and World Music, to Rock and Pop. His five albums as a leader, two as co-leader (Mozarts Blue Fantasies and Bachs Secret Files) as well as his work on over a hundred albums, scores for five feature films, three Broadway musicals, and multiple other projects, showcase his wide-ranging area of expertise.
Jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker has helped shape the sound of Jazz, R&B, and Rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists including James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Parliament/Funkadelic, Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, Jaco Pastorius, Frank Zappa, and more. "Audiences will get to experience a world class music sensation right in the heart of Southampton with Hector Martignon and special guest Randy Brecker - Grammy Award winning trumpet legend. Its a true collaboration concert with two of the top musicians in the world fusing slick New York sound with authentic Afro/Caribbean poly rhythms. This music gumbo will feature an eclectic repertoire from 1920s Cuban classics to 1970s fusion, and todays Latin/Jazz." says Claes Brondal, series organizer.
In addition to Hector Martignon on Piano and Randy Brecker on Trumpet, the band will also include Gregg August on Bass, Claes Brondal on Drums, and Samuel Torres on Congas. The concert will be recorded for rebroadcast on local NPR Member station WPPB by recording engineer and Jam Session Radio Hour Host George Howard.
