J.S. Ondara
Everwood Farmstead Foundation continues its 6th season of the Artist Series with J.S. Ondara on Saturday, July 29th.
J.S. Ondara, a singer-songwriter based in Minneapolis, was born and raised in Nairobi. In January, he kicked-off The Current's birthday party at First Avenue with a performance that drew rave reviews. And he will headline the local stage at this year's Basilica Block Party. Inspired by Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, Neil Young and Ray Lamontagne, J.S. is currently working on his debut record which will be ready for release in 2017.
In addition, multimedia artist Valerie Carpender (www.valcarpender.com) will paint live in the barn before and after the performance. Valerie creates custom commissioned paintings and has exhibited her work in galleries across the country, including a solo show during Art Basel in Miami. Everwood's Pay-What-You-Can ticket price is simple-choose your ticket price from the list above. One-half of your ticket price will be provided to the artists and the other half will be distributed through Everwood's Aspiring Artists Fund. The Fund allows arts-focused teachers in Barron, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties to let us know about exciting projects that need support so their students can flourish. We'll reveal the recipient(s) at each performance. Since 2010, Everwood has donated almost $15,000 to local school programs.
