Charlie Parr
Everwood Farmstead Foundation launches its 6th season of the Artist Series with Charlie Parr on Saturday, June 3rd.
Charlie Parr's blistering picking - he switches between acoustic guitar, dobro and banjo - and keening, cut-through-the-crowd vocals resonate with a conviction that runs deep and true. It's the music of a self-taught guitarist and banjo player who grew up listening to his dad's recordings of America's musical founding fathers. His heartfelt and plaintive original folk blues and traditional spirituals don't strive for authenticity, they are authentic.
"Folk music has a long, storied past in Minnesota... Among the current crop of roots-style pickers, Charlie Parr has sailed above as a performer for over a decade now." - City Pages
"In my humble opinion, Parr is one of the top voices in modern American folk music." - Rhapsody Everwood's Pay-What-You-Can ticket price is simple - choose your ticket price from the list above. One-half of your ticket price will be provided to the artists and the other half will be distributed through Everwood's Aspiring Artists Fund. The Fund allows arts-focused teachers in Barron, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties to let us know about exciting projects that need support so their students can flourish. We'll reveal the recipient(s) at each performance. Since 2010, Everwood has donated almost $15,000 to local school programs.
