Theater of War: A Dramatic Reading of Scenes from Sophocles' AJAX, A new version by Bryan Doerries
Theater of War is a free, interactive performance of scenes by actors Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards, The Wire, Oz); Amy Ryan (Bridge of Spies, Birdman, Gone Baby Gone) and Council Member Jumaane Williams from Sophocles' Ajax, an ancient play about the visible and invisible wounds of war. The event is open to everyone, including veterans and their communities, students, artists, and concerned citizens. Each performance is followed by a powerful audience discussion led by community panelists. This groundbreaking project is designed to promote understanding, compassion, and positive action.

This presentation of Theater of War is part of series of city-wide events developed by Brooklyn-based writer and director Bryan Doerries as part of his work as Public Artist in Residence (PAIR) for the City of New York, a joint appointment with the New York City Department of Veterans Services and Department of Cultural Affairs. During this two-year residency, he will bring more than 60 Theater of War Productions projects to diverse communities across all five boroughs. For more information, please visit: www.theaterofwar.nyc.
