Strike the Harp, Ring the Bells, Sound the Oboe Sunday, December 16, 2012, 3:00 p.m. Pre-concert lecture 2:00-2:30 p.m.
This concert features guest artists: virtuoso solo hand bell ringer Malia Anderson Johnson, versatile and dynamic harpist Catherine Barrett, and one of the finest oboists in the Pacific Northwest Shannon Spicciati. Northwest Repertory Singers will perform a program of traditional carols and favorite songs of the season including music by Stephen Paulus, John Rutter, and Donna Gartman Schultz. The combination of voices with these extraordinary instrumentalists is certain to bring the spirit of the Christmas season to all in attendance.
An Evening with "The Coats" Saturday, March 9, 2013, 7:30 p.m. Pre-concert lecture 6:30-7:00 p.m.
One of the most in-demand corporate and college acts in the U.S. today, The Coats have won national vocal competitions, and performed for the President of the United States. They have been fortunate enough to share the stage with headliners such as Trisha Yearwood and The Beach Boys, all while continuing their tradition of outreach performances and workshops supporting music in schools throughout the northwest. This concert celebrates the tenth anniversary of their 2003 NWRS collaboration, and should be an even more exciting and creative experience than the last.
Songs of Love, Lust and Laughter Sunday, May 19, 2013, 3:00 p.m. Pre-concert lecture 2:00-2:30 p.m.
This concert presents compositions over the centuries focusing on love and humorous works. The music ranges from some of the "catches" by Henry Purcell to a set of Liebeslieder Waltzes of Johannes Brahms. We also include the music of Northwest composers Morten Lauridsen, Giselle Wyers, and John Muehleisen. Of course, an evening of love and laughter wouldn't be complete without a offering from the infamous P.D.Q. Bach.
