Drugsong by Wagner and Hoyt Tidwell
Incorporating Richard Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde".
In collaboration with Charlottesville's Jennifer Hoyt Tidwell (CLAW, NO WAKE) VHO pushes the boundaries of opera performance with a radical new genre: a play / opera hybrid. Inspired by Thomas Mann's novella Tristan, Drugsong tells a story of infatuation in isolation. Left alone in a remote sanitorium, the discovery of Wagner leads two artistic souls to the brink.
Starring Wagnerian soprano Miriam Gordon-Stewart (Bayreuth Festival, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hamburg State Opera) and American Heldentenor Corey Bix (Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Vienna Volksoper).
