Mago with Dohee Lee
Artist-in-residence Lee evokes Mago, the creator goddess in ancient Korean mythology, in her piece by the same name. Lee expresses the interconnectedness of dreams and reality, past and present lives, karma and destiny through the traditional mediums of Korean shamanic music and ritual, mask dance and puppet arts, as well as contemporary sculpture, animation, and video projection. The full work, in which Lee will perform and interact with the installations, will be presented three times. Mago itself is a ritual, guiding the audience through a journey of birth, self-discovery, confrontation, death, and re-birth as it embraces spirituality, politics, and healing.
