Hot Belly
Hot Belly is a Queer love story for a late capitalist world. The play follows Veronica and Valerie as they fall in love and travel the United States selling other people's junk. As they try to make a life together, their partnership is challenged by the usual outside forces: money, appetite, spiritual longing, illness, weather patterns, ghosts, and body hair. When youre living in precarious times, what does happily ever after look like, anyway? The Syndicate is an ensemble theater company comprised of women and queer actors, directors, playwrights, and producers who make medium-defying theater. We are an international theater company with members based all around the world. Using techniques from devised, physical, and dance theater, we make new plays that engage the limitless possibilities of the human body in space. Formed in 2014 as a seven-member ensemble of actor-creators, we rely on our shared values of effort, a willingness to lead and to follow, and diversity in both how we tell stories and whose stories we tell.
