Rhyming Optional BCN - English Language Spoken Word and Poetry
A new night dedicated to English language spoken word and poetry in BCN.
Hosted by internationally renowned spoken word artist Kevin P. Gilday - Writer & Spoken Word Artist (BBC, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe), Rhyming Optional BCN aims to give a platform to the poetic talent of Barcelona.
The main show will consist of an open mic, a featured comedy guest and a set from a spoken word headliner. All abilities are welcome - from first timers to seasoned veterans. Similarly, any style - spoken word, page poetry, slam poetry, rap, short stories and flash fiction all have a place at Rhyming Optional. Open mic slots are 5 minutes and limited - reserve a space via the facebook event page.
For those looking to improve on writing and performing, each show will be preceded by a workshop looking at a different aspect of spoken word. Whether you've always wanted to try your hand at performing live or do so regularly, Kevin can help improve your technique through a mix of exercises and experience. The first masterclass will concentrate on structure and form, there'll also be a peer review section to allow group feedback on works in progress.
