Quiet Hollers at the Law Office
Quiet Hollers formed in Louisville, KY in 2010, as a vehicle for the songwriting of Shadwick Wilde.
In 2013, the bands debut, I Am the Morning, a reverb-soaked dive into stream-of-consciousness confessionals (No Depression) featured a drummer whose neck was literally broken-- the band refusing to postpone their session at Louisville's famed Funeral Home studio, after a waterfall-diving accident.
Although the somewhat unsure alt. country-influenced album was received with polite applause from the European blogosphere, and a smattering of indie music writers for whom it was a Best of 2013, it flew mostly under the radar, while the band continued to tour across the eastern half of the US, often using connections from Wildes years as guitarist-for-hire for acts such as the seminal Dischord Records' band, Iron Cross,
Quiet Hollers produced their sophomore full-length without label support... relying instead on a dedicated cult following who funded nearly the entire project, Released in late 2015, "Quiet Hollers" runs the proverbial gamut of the bands influences- college rock, alt. country, post-punk, indie pop- introducing Wilde's literate, hook-laden narratives to the national stage. Consequence of Sound called it a "beautiful portrait," breaking the "confines of roots music," and PopMatters deemed the album "wonderfully unique," with a "strong post-hardcore influence."
While the band continued to tour extensively on the festival and DIY circuits, a somewhat unlikely licensing opportunity found "Mont Blanc" and "Aviator Shades" playing in nearly every Starbucks store in the US and Europe, while "Cote d'Azur" and "Flood Song" were used in the cable TV shows "Kingdom" and "Guilt," airing Summer 2016. The bands latest single, "Broken Guitar" premiered via Consequence of Sound in May 2016, while the band continues to write and record for a third full-length release.
