SIXR Cinematic VR Challenge #4
SIXR is delighted to announce the 4th Edition of our Cinematic VR Challenge, to be held again at our beloved Birdhouse, thanks to our patron saint, Perry!

4/6/17: Had a tutorial on Filmmaker Live today with Don Alvarez. I am so excited to share this new VR tool with you all, too. Thank you so much, Don. https://filmmakerlive.com/

NEWSFLASH! 4/2/2017: Huge thanks and Welcome to Ricardo Parker and Chronos Academy, for making HoloLens available to us, with Cameron Carl Jensen of Chronos teaching an Intro to Vuforia development for HoloLens at our Opening Night. Bless you, Ricardo! http://chronosglobalacademy.org/

LATEST NEWS AS OF 3/31/17: We have new sponsors, Larry James of Maker Dome, who will be providing HTC Vive demos, and Tim Cullins of Oculus is supplying two headsets for our demos, thank you, Tim & Larry! Eugene Capon has kindly offered to teach an After Effects class on Saturday morning.

Some super amazing possibilities keep popping up for us, but this is quite the topper: Wondertek Labs' VR techno-genius, Kim Voynar, may be paying us a visit during the weekend. Her company will be curating and producing SIFF's VR event this year, and, if she likes anything she sees that comes out of this (or previous) SIXR challenges, perhaps, that content could be considered to be shown at Kim's SIFF event! So ASPIRE HIGHER! <3 Thank you, Kim 0:-)

A big thank you and welcome to our newest sponsor, VIAR360, a cloud-based virtual reality storytelling platform! Our friend, Dejan Gajek, from VIAR360 will be joining us and teaching a class in how to use their platform for 360 Storytelling. For more info: https://app.viar360.com/

A warm welcome back to our sponsors from last year's Holiday edition #3, 3Dio, which manufactures professional binaural microphones that are the premier 3D audio recording device for ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Motor Response), VR virtual reality, field recording and recording studios. https://3diosound.com/

Thrilled to announce Skybox Mettle has joined as a sponsor, offering complimentary license keys to its plugins for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects for 360 video editing to all participants for the duration of the challenge. We will provide an intro class to using these tools, taught by SIXR alum, Ryan White. Especially exciting, we will be raffling off a Skybox Mettle 360 Suite bundle worth $500 among those who complete their project using these tools.

UPDATE: Fantastic News! We have arranged with MoCapNow to do some motion capture work that can be imported into our projects. If you have a character in mind, please contact us and we'll tell you what CJ needs from you to prep for your shoot. We will also be holding a pre-Challenge Best Practices Orientation a few days before the challenge (date TBA) so we can make the most of our time in the studio by prepping as much in advance as possible, and understanding what to expect and what will be expected of you, so please email us asap to indicate your interest in participating in our first SIXR "field trip"! Email sixr@studivo.com & please put MoCapNow Field Trip in the subject line. An enormous thank you to CJ, Marin and Ander of MoCapNow.

Given this development, we are announcing the theme in advance, which is: "Magical, Mystical & Mythological Visions".

Our OG SIXR brother, David Feuillatre will be back and giving an Intro to Cinemtatic VR Production class on Friday night, and a presentation: "Virtual Reality - Journey from Cinema to VR", right before our potluck on Saturday evening.

We are still finalizing the program, further details to be released as soon as confirmed. We'll keep some things a surprise until the Friday evening commencement of creative jamming!

We need dedicated volunteers, contact us if interested:
Please put SIXR#4 Volunteers in the subject line.
