A Table at Sardi's - The Best of Broadway
Its an evening of songs from Tony Award winning Best Musicals of the last 60 years including Kiss Me Kate, Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, Rent, and The Book of Mormon. Sardi's opened March 5, 1927 in the Broadway district of Manhattan on West 44thStreet. The restaurant became known as a location for opening night parties. Vincent Sardi, a theater lover, kept the restaurant open much later than others in the area to accommodate Broadway performers' schedules. Sardi's was the birthplace of the Tony Awards. It was after Antoinette Tony Perry's death in 1946, that her partner, theatrical producer and director, Brock Pemberton while eating lunch at Sardi's when he came up with the idea of a theater award to be given in her honor. For many years Sardis was the location where the Tony Award nominations were announced. The evening is a sumptuous three course dinner in the beautiful Grandview Mark OMeara Ballroom and then the chance to push back and enjoy your coffee while watching the show.
