The Wheatland Chorale "Glad Tidings" Concert
The Wheatland Chorale begins its 26th year under the leadership of its new Artistic Director, Eric Riley. This year's concert features the "Midnight Mass" by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (sung in Latin) and Hugo Distler's marvelous meditation and variation on the 16th Century melody "Lo How a Rose e'er Blooming" which tells the Christmas Story in a most fascinating and musically thought provoking manner. The chorale will also perform two motets by Poulenc, Robert Chilcott's "The Rose in the Middle of Winter" and other seasonal favorites.
The concert will be performed on consecutive dates with a December 8th appearance at 8:00 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing,(Reading)PA and a December 9th appearance at 4:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Lancaster, PA.
