Letterpress Fundamentals
This comprehensive class covers the fundamentals of letterpress printing in IPRCs friendly and affordable studio. Through hands on experience, we will explore the basic principles of typography and the history of the craft of printing. Students will receive in-depth training in typesetting and printing, as well as alternative image making techniques. Techniques explored in the course include advanced typesetting, linoleum block printing, pressure printing, two color registration, and printing with photopolymer plates.
Technical training in file preparation to create plates from digital imagery will also be provided. This course is designed to be an in-depth exploration of letterpress printing, and students will be given the opportunity to focus on areas of interest.
