Craftsman Then & Now: An Immersion Experience
Join us for an exciting new event. Themed to establish a link between the original American Craftsman homes in the first quarter of the 20th century, remodels of originals, and late 20th, early 21st century homes in this historic style. The full day event will include a walking tour, presentations by knowledgeable speakers, and professional exhibitors. These experts will answer questions, including those regarding the Mills Act, and landscape and interior design of the Craftsman period.
One-hour tours will start at Francis Parker Lower School with guides pointing out Craftsman details and highlighting histories of individual homes. In addition, speakers will present information on the Craftsman features, architects, and builders of the time, construction materials and building methods of the past and present. The resulting information will bring a greater understanding of the endearing charm of the Craftsman home, its popularity in Mission Hills, and California's contribution to the Arts & Crafts Movement.
