Trigger: A project of (Be)longing
A riveting oratorio about coming of age in the age of guns. Developed in response to the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting and now echoing more recent incidents, Trigger tackles themes surrounding gun violence in America by incorporating community perspectives into a theatrical choral and hip hop music project. As debates ping pong around gun safety legislation, the Second Amendment, and civil liberties, numerous voices murmur and soar in this initiative focused on social action and healing.
Trigger is a work under the project umbrella (Be)longing, a series of linked events asking how we recover from violence and prevent its recurrence.
Byron Au Yong's interdisciplinary works are as exquisite and imaginative as they are unclassifiable. Seattle Weekly
