Festival of the Mandolins
On April 23th the Croatian American Cultural Center hosts the San Francisco Festival of the Mandolins. For the past 17 years there has been a sit down concert in the afternoon, workshops in the late morning, good food & drink, and plenty of chances to listen to the best, and most diverse mandolin music in the world. The 1PM concert, will be preceded by workshops at 11AM.. And Bulgarian food by Chef Hristo Kolev will be served up for your enjoyment
It seems like every year the festival gets better, and this year will be no exception, with some very special treats. Chris Acquavella will be coming from San Diego!!! Tom Rozum with some high-profile friends; choro by Grupo Falso Baiano; bluegrass prodigy Teo Quale with Crying Uncle; the Billy Packard Trio (Billy played with Ricardo Tunzi, Tony Flores, and Matio Casserino!); and festival favorites Aurora Mandolin Orchestra, a San Francisco tradition since the 1930s. A day of Bring Your Own Mandolin Orchestra, workshops, and concert performances at a ridiculously low price.
