View of China from Both Sides -- Prof. John McKinstry
During the 19th century in the U.S. people known as Chinamen were associated in the popular mind with disorganization, illiteracy, economic and social backwardness.
Today China has achieved the second most powerful economy. The Chinese view of themselves and the way the world has seen them has traveled an interesting course.
Join Professor John McKinstry for his short two-part description of that journey from ancient China to the present. This is another lecture from Prof. McKinstry's really enjoyable culture series.
This is a two section course. Buying one ticket entitles you to be admitted to both sections/classes of this course in April.
Classes will be held from 1pm-3pm each Tuesday.
John McKinstry was Professor of sociology and Asian studies at Cal Poly, 1968-2014 andvisiting professor at Waseda, Fukuoka Universities in Japan, Harbin University in China and Sofia University in Bulgaria. He is the author and co-author of several books and articles about Asia.
