The Magnificent Pigtail Shadow
"The Magnificent Pigtail Shadow" Directed/ written by Steven Cerio 45 min / color / English / stereo sound Good for all ages. The film contains no violence, nudity or profanity. A night hosted by NY artist / filmmaker Steven Cerio whose unmistakable style set the stage for the neo-psychedelic revival.. His work has appeared on Nickelodeon and used by Penguin Books, A&M,Warner and shown in galleries worldwide. His previous film work for performance pioneers The Residents is in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. This is his first solo film. The Pigtail Shadow is a false idol, a false prophet promising a jeweled path out of reality. Teeming with music, words and imagery, this film induces a meditative and blissful state. The sweet and nimble reading by Kristin Hersh places an ethereal tone over a lush and swirling soundtrack. Cerio gently dismantles the collective subconscious and thoroughly mocks the human drama. Moments shift between the candied ecstasy of childhood and a teasing cynicism. Spotlights shine on our shifting superstitions in this cautionary tale. After the screening Steven will answer questions and sign copies his limited edition dvd and book , prints, posters and original art.
