National Black Box Performing Arts Festival presents Toussaint Morrison
The featured musical act for the inaugural National Black box Performing Arts Festival, Toussaint Morrison's music is littered with laments for his birthplace of New Orleans, consolations for a relationship ending with moving trucks, and speaks to sittin in a room full of white smiles, waiting for permission to hope. Morrisons work speaks to the vulnerability of reconstructing identity apart from a life partner and exploring whiteness in Minnesota. He considers the advantages of being heartbroken rather than heartless, unlawful than law-abiding, and dying black & proud rather than living black & submissive.
