Foreign Body - Returns To Bristol following Sell Out shows in London
Hamilton House, Bristol Saturday 1 April, 7.30pmTickets: £8.50 full price / £7.50 concession
At least 1 in 3 of our women have survived sexual violence. We are all affected. We are all responsible.
Foreign Body is the beautifully crafted debut solo show by Imogen Butler-Cole about hope, healing and forgiveness after sexual assault. Uniquely told from the perspective of the survivor and perpetrator of the same assault, using a charged combination of verbatim, physical theatre and a stunning original soundtrack, Foreign Body is a brave, liberating and life-affirming story.
Groundbreaking Inspiring and uplifting **** The Stage
CoResist are absolutely delighted to welcome Imogen to Hamilton House this April, having seen the first work in progress at the Space theatre in London, and moved beyond words by the power, pain, honesty and potential for healing that this perfomance piece invites of the audience. Since we have hosted the full show in October last year and are thrilled to bring the latest development back to Bristol.
We are equally as excited by the Q&A after the show on this important, delicate and profound issue. Foreign Body aims to destigmatise dialogue around sexual violence and will offer opportunities for audience members to explore the plays themes through post show Q&As: Alongside representatives from SARSAS and Bristol Zero Tolerance.
Foreign Body is a collaboration between internationally renowned Creator/Performer Imogen Butler-Cole (RADA, Shakespeares Globe, BBC) Director Fran Moulds (Punchdrunk Enrichment and Coney, Up and Down- Gaga Theatre, Witch - Union Chapel) and Artistic Advisor Kath Burlinson (Founder of Authentic Artist Collective). The production is designed by Linbury Prize winner Ana Inés Jabares-Pita (National Theatre of Scotland, LeLa & Co Royal Court, The Echo Chamber Young Vic) with an original score by Tara Franks and Filipe Sousa of Quest Ensemble (Vortex, Union Chapel, Wiltons, Southbank).
The development of Foreign Body was supported by Arts Council England, Rich Mix and Pleasance London. The play has been developed at renowned feminist theatre festival Calm Down Dear, RADA Festival, Exeter Bike Shed, Hamilton House, Bristol and Off Beat Oxford.
