Ben Franklin Opera
The Spell of Tradition is an eminently accessible evening of modern opera and Noh drama, inspired by one of American history's most fascinating personalities. Its a unique opportunity to enjoy classical entertainment at a very affordable price. Sung in English with supertitles.
With our band: cellist, Ruslan Biryukov, harpist Elisabeth Zosseder, flutist Michelle Matsumune, and percussionist Michael Basak joining Galina Barskaya at the piano.
The costumes, best described as Kabuki/Baroque, are by the talented Karolyn Kiisel and her team. Lighting by Jesse Baldridge and Art Direction by Claire Fraser complete the work.
Were hosting a special Red Carpet Moment before the show each night. Wear your opera-going outfit, pose for a photo and sip a glass of wine, nibble on a snack. The theater opens at 7 pm each for socializing before the show, which starts at 8.
