Event
Yiddish Third Seder
The Congress for Jewish Culture will be conducting a Yiddish 3rd seder during Peysach chol hamoed this year on Thursday, April 13th at 6 PM.
The 3rd seder will take place this year, we're proud to announce, in the historic Montauk Club at 25 Eighth Avenue in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn.
Those of you who know what we're talking about need no further explanation, and those who dont, you're in for a big treat!
We will read (and sing!) through a Yiddish hagode. We did this last year on a smaller experimental scale and have farbesert the whole hagode based on enthusiastic input from last year's khevre.
Please note: Yiddish is the language of this event! The hagode is in Yiddish and the program will be in Yiddish. Even if you don't "talk Jewish," don't worry - there will be sufficient English-language sign-posts to keep you looped in. Talk among yourselves in whatever language you like, but plan on hearing and humming in Yiddish!
The meal will be a buffet with chicken and vegetarian options. Dr. Jeanne Stellman, will be bringing her homemade gefilte fish. Other cooks will be tossing in their traditional maykholim.
Please note, wine will be kosher lepeysekh; food will not be kosher but no chometzdike ingredients will be used.
Costs and Contributions Admission is $54 per person, which is almost precisely our cost per person, not including uncompensated time and effort and volunteer food contributions. So if you are at all able, add something on top of the base ticket price. The Congress for Jewish Culture can certainly use it to keep this event and all our work in the field of Yiddish going. We wont tell you how to give, but here are some ideas:
$54 cover costs $86 Shtitser $118 Kozak $180 Knacker $266 Gantser Borekh-haShem
Remember that your donation to the Congress for Jewish Culture, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
Space is limited, so please respond ASAP.
We are closing reservations on Friday, April 7 -- we are already bursting at the seams!
Directions: The Montauk Club is at Grand Army Plaza on the 2 and 3 trains and at Seventh Avenue on the B and Q trains.
