Wes Weddell Band
Award-winning songwriter Wes Weddell built a regional following by chronicling local communities in song while a student at UW in the early 2000s, earning the label Modern-Day Woody Guthrie from the Seattle Times. The late Performing Songwriter Magazine called his story-based style folk meets rock meets lonesome cowboy waltzes.
Since My Northwest Home introduced him to the scene in 2001, many more stages, albums, collaborations, and honors have followed. Touring increased, airplay accrued. A 13-year association with beloved folk singing duo Reilly & Maloney began. Wes Northwest roots sank deeper and spread, and the Wes Weddell Band formed after the release of Songs to Get You from Here to There in 2006. In 2010 Wes began working with The Bushwick Book Club Seattle, a collective of songwriters and artists who write and perform original works inspired by a different literary selection each month. Songs from this catalogue comprise the selections on 2015s Nobodys Flag, a full-band effort firmly in the rootsy-Americana vein.
The WW Band features Wes Weddell (Guitar, Vocals), Alicia Healey (Bass,Vocals), Brian Hoskins (Piano, Organ)and Dave Bush (Drums, Percussion).
Between engagements performing and teaching, Wes also runs Puget's Sound Productions, a community live-music non-profit in the Seattle area. He is also an avid baseball fan and mountain huckleberry picker.
