Life Drawing with David Ridgway
A once-in-a-lifetime event! The Neverland tent is a beautiful evocative space and we have use of it as an environment to stir the imagination, release the creative energies and make a unique space for life drawing. Artist David Ridgway lives in Ramsgate and is a highly experienced teacher and artist, working in oil and pastel on paper, wood and canvas, creating complex powerful images.
I draw and paint because I have to. The struggle to merge colour and line, texture and form, space and light and all with a narrative that hopefully makes a viewer think. The ongoing battle to attain the unattainable is much of what makes me not just as a person but an artist.
I teach because I love it. I love enabling students to believe they can draw and paint and once empowered with that self belief there are no limits to where they can go. As I say to students, "not everyone can be a Michaelangelo, who was blessed with sublime talent, but since then history has given us many, many artists who have produced strong, sometimes beautiful images and most of these artists could not be said to have been given such natural skills".
Join us on the day with a board and easel (if possible). Charcoal not allowed in the tent.
