Sema - The Sufi Prayer dance of the Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes
Rumi is one of the world's finest exemplars of Islam as the Religion of Love, demonstrating through a lifetime of words and actions how Peace is possible in this world on a Path of Love.
On Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 3:30 pm, the Whirling Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order of America (MOA) will present the Sema Ceremony honoring the great Sufi Mystical Poet, Hz. Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, at the Ballard Odd Fellows Hall.
The afternoon event will feature the prayer dancing of the Whirling Dervishes, a ceremony presented as it has been for over 700 years. In their traditional felt hats and flowing white garments, turners whirl in unison, attuning to the music of the heart.
Students and Seniors (with ID) $10 at the door, remaining General admission tickets $20 at the door (cash only).
"Lovers find secret places inside this violent world where they make transactions with beauty." ~ Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi
