PERFECT ARRANGEMENT by Topher Payne
With the last minute disappointing cancellation of our planned production of MAPLE & VINE, we're excited to present in its place, the Seattle Premiere of PERFECT ARRANGEMENT by Topher Payne.
How far are you willing to go to be happy? It's 1950, and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. There's just one problem, both are gay and have married another gay couple as a carefully constructed cover. Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement during the Lavender Scare of the McCarthy Era, this madcap comedic romp gives way to provocative drama as two "All-American" couples are forced to stare down the closet door.
"[A] clever canapé of a comedy...Mr. Payne is a deft and witty writer." - The New York Times "Usually a playwright has to choose between writing a laugh-out-loud comedy and a very serious drama. Topher Payne has written both with Perfect Arrangement." -TheatreMania "Fabulous...pitch-perfect" -DC Theatre Scene
Don't miss this new comedy directed by Rachel Rene and features the multi-ethnic talents of Julia Beers, Zandi Carlson, John Coons, Casey Floresca, Parker Kennedy, Jedidiah Mathre and Steph Sola.
