The Rebecca Kleinmann Trio featuring Natalie Cressman
The Rebecca Kleinmann Trio featuring Rebecca Kleinmann, flutes/vocals Ian Faquini, guitar/vocals Julien Cantelm, drums & Special guest Natalie Cressman, trombone/vocals
The Rebecca Kleinmann Trio presents an intricate and exhilarating program of acoustic Brazilian music including original arrangements of music by Faquini, Pixinguinha, Jobim, Baden Powell, Guinga and Hermeto Pascoal, along with a few special surprises. Rebecca Kleinmann is a fearless improvisor who has steeped herself in musical languages of Brazilian Choro, Forró and Jazz. Brazilian born composer and guitarist Ian Faquini writes gorgeous original compositions inspired by traditional rhythms of Brazil spanning from Samba to Baião and Maracatu and inspired by harmonically-rich influences from Ravel to Duke Ellington and Guinga. Rebecca and Ian released their duo album "Brasiliense" in 2014, engineered by Jeff Cressman. Drummer Julien Cantelm of San Diego grooves with unparalleled subtlety, bringing a breadth of knowledge in Brazilian music and Jazz to his joyous, open-eared playing. Joining as a very special guest on this concert will be rising star Natalie Cressman, raised in the Bay Area, most recently based in New York City, and currently touring widely with her stunning vocal and trombone prowess. April 1st is and evening not to be missed at the Sound Room, no joke. (Well... a joke or two may included!)
