David Razowsky: With Each Other, For Each Other: The Art of the Ensemble
This weeklong intensive focuses on all things ensemble: support, heightening, surrendering, and selfless play. What does the scene want from you? How can you best listen to and support whats already there? When does a scene need your help, and when does a scene need your absence? Invest fully, wholly, and be aware of what you need to offer and when.
The actor's take away will include: A clear understanding of the dynamics of a scene. How a successful scene starts, develops, evolves, and to recognize when the perfect edit arrives. Effectively using tag outs, callbacks and other scenic devices in order to explore all avenues of the scene.
This intensive will culminate in an ensemble performance on Saturday evening.
Dave has over thirty year experience teaching improvisation and sketch comedy. He is the former Dean of the Second City Training Centre, a guest artist with Steppenwolf Theater Company and a consultant for Dreamworks. He is also the host of the ADD podcast, an amazing resource for improvisers worldwide.
David Razowsky has a very simple approach to strong improv scenes: Your presence is the only thing you need to create compelling, smart, truthful, and surprising scenes. Period. No games, no preconceived premises, no ideas, no ego. Just now matters. Its what has inspired many to call him an impro guru. Your level of experience doesnt matter
